Key Biscayne BeachesThe beach begins at the lighthouse at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. The beach is nice and white. The water is blue. The beach widens to a very beautiful and wide beach about halfway down the island. I counted 13 life guard towers. Then the beach narrows to just a strip at the end. Then mangroves and then a little more beach. Key Biscayne has a beautiful, wide, sandy beach. Enjoy.
Key Biscayne Beach FolksI really didn't meet too many folks on this island. This is a very upscale place. When kids drive cars I haven't seen before, I am out of my element. The park folks, rangers, TV folks, and park users were very nice folks and the few folks I met along the way seemed nice. If you wish to stay here, bring lots of money!
Virginia Key BeachesThere are two beaches and two parks. The first is the old Colored Park and the other is the more recent park. The beach is not too wide buy very nice. There are several cement separations in the water on the first beach. There are pavilions there as well. The other beaches, further north, are nicer, with tree right on the beach. Both beaches are very nice.
Virginia Key FolksVirginia Key doesn't seem to have homes, just parks. The people at the parks are regular Miami folks. Many Latinos, some blacks and some whites. Folks on the beach are nice. But I wouldn't want to hang out there. But there is a wickedly cool bike trail on that key. A lot of fun!
Fisher Island BeachesThe beaches I jogged were on the eastern end of the island. They were nice, but small. And partitioned. Nothing special.
Fisher Island FolksI only met a few and they didn't want their picture taken. The folks at the resort where I paddled my kayak upon the shore were indifferent to me. They were relaxing very nicely. The workers there were very nice.
South BeachThis is a wide, beautiful and long beach. You can wade way out into the water. This is a famous beach and it is amazing. For people watching this beach can't be beat!
South Beach FolksWow! What a beach. People from all over the world are there. Many look like models, both female and male. Many Latinos are on the beach, often in family groups. People come here to look at and to be looked at. It is crowded even on a weekday. Self-absorbed is a good description. The Latinos are by far the friendliest folks on the beach. Not all, by any means.
Miami BeachesNorth of South Beach are the rest of the beaches of Miami. The beaches extend about 10 miles I think. They vary in width and all seem busy. The water sometimes is deep right away and sometimes you can wade far out there. These beaches are crowded.
Miami FolksSo many joggers, bicyclists, walkers! It seems like everyone here has six-pack abs, both guy and girls. Self-absorbed is the nicest word I can use to describe these narcissistic folks. Not every one, of course! But enough to warrant the comment. I drove around for an hour in North Miami looking for a church. First time on my journey that I couldn't find one. But I saw hundreds of people taking care of their bodies.
Ft. Lauderdale BeachesThe beaches of Ft. Lauderdale and Ft. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea are very nice beaches. The former has a wide beautiful beach and the latter a more narrow and dirty beach with limited public facilities. And the grade of the latter beaches isn't the best for lying in the sun or swimming.
Ft. Lauderdale FolksWhen I finished my jog of these beaches I looked back and tried to describe this area in one word. I did. Arrogance. These people are arrogant just because they live here. I wouldn't live there. (Later I met a few folks who lived there and are quite successful, and they agreed completely.)
Boca Raton BeachesThe beaches along Boca Raton are beautiful. Not overly wide, but very nice.
Boca Raton FolksI really didn't meet too many people here. I did see some yachts bigger than most houses. The folks in the parks were nice and I think the town is friendly. Folks in the library and shops were nice people.
Delray BeachThis is a beautiful beach with an excellent beach that slopes nicely to the water and the water looks really nice here. The day I jogged it the blue was deep and rich. The sand is clean and the folks I met are really nice.
Delray Beach FolksI only met a few. The place that was super friendly when I asked for some water. I wrote about that in my journal. It seems like a friendly area.
Lantana BeachThis beach runs into the Palm beaches. It is a nice beach. The area is getting ritzy.
Lantana Beach FolksThe town of Lantana has one thing going for it. The Old Key Lime House. A place you should visit for a drink and some good entertainment and excellent food. Try the fish and chips! Otherwise, the town has little to offer and along Highway 1, it fells like I am nearing a ghetto. But at the park near the Old Key Lime House, the folks can be a friendly lot.
Lake Worth BeachActually this is a small beach that runs into Palm Beach, so the houses, condos, etc. are very ritzy. The beaches are very nice, with some rocks along the way, as I recall.
Lake Worth FolksThis community reminds me of Gulfport in St. Pete. The downtown opens up to shops, eateries and more. Starbucks there is my new hangout. The folks to come in are an eclectic group. There is the group of chess players who are always there, a lady who has written a very interesting book. A young lawyer and her hubby. A girl who wrote a book of poetry and put it all online in one day. A very long day. The town has several nice night spots as well. There is a strong gay community here. I found this out by wondering into the wrong store. Oops! There is a little bit of uppitiness here as in most yuppie-type communities. A friendly place, though. The town rulers voted down parking meters! Yeah!
West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, North Palm BeachThe beaches are beautiful and the homes along the way are just as beautiful. Hardly anyone on the beaches, but they are nice. Few access points though.
West Palm, Palm and North Palm Beach FolksDon't see any on A1A. Mostly the ones I do see are on bikes and wearing the full uniform of a biker even with special cleats that snap into their pedals. Nice enough, but into their own world. Parking meters, of course. I went dancing at the Chesterfield and had a very nice time. Folks are folks. Same here. But one martini costs $16!
On the other side, off the island, it is just another city, |
Jupiter BeachThe beach is hard to access. I had to jog over 8 miles at one time because there was no access point. All land sold. The beach is very nice, though. Not many people.
Jupiter Beach FolksThe only people I saw were landscapers and construction workers. Not much activity around here. The town itself seems a little uppity as well with some very nice exceptions. But all in all, not my kind of town.
Hutchinson Island, Hobe SoundThe beach are the same nice beaches as the others. There is a state park that has beautiful beaches.
Hutchinson Island, Hobe Sound Folks. It seems as if the cities are gone. This is a small town and the folks seem nice. Not a lot here, though. For shopping, people get on I=95 and head south a few exits.
Port Salerno and Stuart BeachesThe beaches here are very nice as well. The folks along the beach are nice too.
Port Salerno and Stuart Beach FolksThis area makes me feel like I am back on the Gulf side near Manasota Pass. The folks are nice and down to earth. This would be a good spot to relocate. Stuart is a very nice and friendly town. I like it here.
Fort Pierce BeachThis beach ends Hutchinson Island. the beach is very wide and nice. Many folks are out fishing and sun bathing. You would enjoy spending a day on this beach. |
Fort Pierce Beach"The last bastion of rednecks" is how one person described this town. It is a little rough looking. I have yet to hear one good word about this town. Kind of like Daytona Beach in that respect. Not my kind of place. To paraphrase, "Can anything good come out of Ft. Pierce?"
Vero BeachThe beach is just fine. Nice place to
Vero Beach FolksAt first I thought this was a small community which didn't have much. But I was wrong! it is a very nice middle class community with an excellent educational system and the arts, etc. Folks are nice here.
Sebastian BeachThis is a beautiful little beach. The sand is nice to lie on, the atmosphere is easy-going and the watger
Sebastian Beach FolksThis are nice folks, very nice folks. I would enjoying going back and just hanging out at the beautiful Sebastian Beach Inn and meet the folks who go there. Nice little community where hospitality is always at the forefront.
Melbourne BeachTo me this beach is like Sebastian Beach. Nice!
Melbourne Beach FolksThe folks here seem friendly and helpful. I like them.
Indialantic BdeachThese beaches are nice. Parking meters are there in spots.
Indialantic and Satellite Beach FolksThese folks aren't as nice as their neighbors south, but they are nice. This place is too built up for me. Parking meters and homeless. And busy.
Patrick AFB BeachThis Beach is excellent with not may people. It is wide with beautiful sand.
Patrick AFB Beach FolksDon't have a clue. Didn't meet anyone from the base.
Cocoa BeachThis beach is busy. A very touristy beach, but nice sand and lots of folks on the beach.
Cocoa Beach FolksThese folks are between Patrick AFB and Cape Canaveral. They are slightly arrogant. They try to say they are not, but they are. Touristy, pricey and not my style at all.
Cape Canaveral and NASAThe beach was very nice up to the Cape. That is all the farther I got. Wide beach, shelling good and the folks I met fishing were really nice. Except they kept asking about a 'badge' or something!
Cape Canaveral and NASA Beach FolksThey are no fun at all! But the folks in uniform with guns who were waiting for me at my kayak were very nice. It was fun jogging past some launch pads, though!
Titusville BeachesThey really don't have any. I included it because it is so much a part of the area.
Titusville Beach FolksThe folks are nice. It is a dying city - again. This city is a NASA Satellite. When the moon shots the city died and came back with the Shuttle. They are dying again. Maybe they will come back again.
Canaveral National Seashore BeachesThese are excellent beaches with wide beaches, beautiful water and a great pristine area of Florida. Some of the best beaches I have been on.
Canaveral National Seashore Beach FolksThe folks at these beaches are friendly. Some parts of the beach seem to be for nudest. Many friendly folks here, as well.
Daytona BeachThis beach is wonderful. You can park your car right on the beach and the sand is usually firm and wide at low tide. Many nice folks are on the beach. Tourist and locals alike.
Daytona Beach FolksThis is a very nasty area. Lowlife abound. Drugs and prostitution fuel the evils of this beach. It is Dr. Jekyll during the day and Mr. Hyde at night. Up and down the coast, the opinion is the same. This is a very bad place. Thanks to the local politicians and police chief I guess. Even area sheriff deputies and police shake their heads when talking about (highly advertised as the best tourst beach in Florida!)
Daytona Beach. |
Beaches North and South of DaytonaThis beaches are excellent as well. And you can park your car and have a fun day on the beach. South Daytona and Ormund Beaches are very nice.
Beach North and South of Daytona FolksThese communities are very different from Daytona. The police are on top of things and the folks are nice. Ormund seems an excellent place to live.
Flagler BeachThe beach is really nice. There are rocks along the way and the tide can come right up to the rocks in some areas, but not at Flagler itself. I like these beaches for the beauty and scarcity of people. You can relax.
Flagler Beach FolksThere is a sure New York air about the place with many restaurants touting New York cuisine. But the folks, many from New York, I think, are very nice. I like that place. The folks are nice and the architecture leading up to Flagler and beyond is fun to look at.
Beverly and Marineland BeachesThe beaches are nice and were fun to jog. The homes along the way were fun to look at.
Beverly and Marineland Beach FolksI didn't meet many of the folks but people in the areas seemed nice. It is beginning to be southern as well as Floridian.
St. Augustine BeachThe beaches here are wide and wonderful. I really enjoyed jogging them. White sand and warm sunshine!
St. Augustine Beach FolksI had been to St., Augustine twice and didn't think I would like it so much. The folks are very nice here. It is where the best of the South meets Florida. I may move here.
Villano BeachThis almost empty area of beach is a nice beach. I jogged after a storm so I didn't see much of it.
Villano Beach FolksI think there may be some haughtiness here, but many folks are nice as well. You will be in for a mixture of that.
Ponte Vedra BeachThe beach is nice and sandy.
Ponte Vedra FolksSome parts are nice. There is money here, but many don't flaunt it. Some really nice folks. But when you reach the resorts, it all changes. If you like being treated as a non-entity (like a servant), you will like the resort area.
Jacksonville BeachesJax, Atlantic and Neptune Beaches are all very nice. Many folks, nice folks. The beaches are wide and shelling is good.
Jacksonville Beach FolksThe folks I met on the beaches were very friendly and nice. Many joggers, shellers and just plain beach folks. I like it here.
Batten Island Beach. Not much beach left after they dredged the river for the marina that repairs boats. Too bad.
Batten Island Beach FolksSome of the best folks I have met so far!
City and State Parks BeachesDon't miss these beaches. Each is extremely gorgeous in its own way. Huguenot Beach is very wide. Drive right on it and have a blast. Little Talbot Beach is great for shelling and just lying on the beach. The hidden beaches at Big Talbot take some effort to get to, but the beauty of these beaches make the trek worthwhile.
City and State Park Beach FolksWe are in the South now. The folks are nice and friendly, with a few rednecks tossed into the mix to make it interesting. The city park folks could use some customer service training, the state park folks are excellent. I like both places.
Amelia Island BeachesThe beaches are wide, the sand white and firm. Shelling is good and many folks are out on the beach.
Amelia Island Beach FolksThe folks here are friendly. Rednecks are here, too. But most folks are nice. Kind of like a small city atmosphere. Sliders and Sandy Bottoms are excellent places to eat. Surf is so-so. I like the place, just too close to Georgia. Just off the island are The Woods. That is the unofficial name of the places where folks live off the island. And that is exactly what it is - woods.
